Cook Islands

The Cook Islands, are the most beautiful group of islands in the entire Pacific islands region. They are located to the north west of Tahiti and to the east of Tonga and Samoa. Their were one of the island groups originally settled by the ancient Polynesian mariners who discovered this part of the Pacific Ocean thousands years ago. These people sailed throughout the pacific islands groups and became the dominant people throughout the region. They traveled in huge double hulled canoes and originated from asia. There navigational skills were second to none and they discovered and settled places like New Zealand, Tahiti and Hawaii as well as Island groups to the west of the Cook islands.The Cook islands were first settled by chief Toi in about 800ad and there has been continuous occupation since that time.

Raratonga is the biggest island in the group and the capital is Avarua which is situated on Raratonga. Air services arrive and depart the Cook islands from here.
