Daydream Island
Daydream Island resort is one of the best family holiday locations anywhere in the Whitsunday Islands. It is one of the oldest resorts in the Whitsundays and has seen several rebuilds and refurbishments over the years. At one stage. it was purchased by a buyer who removed all of its accommodation to Hayman Island to create the first resort there. The existing resort was built in the 1990's and was purchased in 2001 by Vaughn Bullivant who wanted to create the ultimate health spa resort. He completely refurbished the resort and added a spa that has 16 individuals treatment rooms, plus a complete range of health spa services. The resort also has complete facilities to make it the ultimate family holiday destination with a kids club, fantastic swimming pols, the best putt putt golf course in Australia and a huge "living reef" aquarium with live corals and many of the tropical fish species that you will see on the Great Barrier Reef, itself. On the beachfront there are lots of water sports and there is also a dive shop. You can hire a jet ski, use the islands paddle skis or sailing catamarans or even take a day tour to the outer Great Barrier Reef for the day.
The Whitsunday Islands are fast becoming one of Australia's most popular wedding destinations and Daydream Island is a leader in this field. The resort has a specialist wedding planner to help out with all the wedding plans and arrangements. All the necessary facilities are available. The wedding chapel is superb with a fully glassed wall behind the podium that overlooks a superb bay and rocky beach. Many different options exist for a reception in one of the restaurants or in the beautiful gardens and the honeymoon can be in the resort itself. Guests also have the option to stay for a short holiday as part of the celebrations.
Daydream Island is easy to get to from anywhere in Australia. You can fly into Hamilton Island from anywhere in the country and then ferry transfers to Daydream Island are available from the marina there or from Shute harbour or Airlie Beach on the mainland.
