Hamilton Island itself is the newest of the resorts in the Whitsunday islands. The original accommodation built by Kieth Williams has all been refurbished or turned into staff accommodation. Both the reef view hotel and the Whitsunday holiday apartments have been completely refurbished to keep the property up to its expected standard. Lots of new accommodation at the luxury end of the market has recently been added and this has also has the effect of lifting the profile of the entire resort. The island is now owned by the Oatley family of Rosemount Wines fame and they have added a huge range of attractions to the island. The first of these was the beautiful and unequaled "Qualia Resort" which is located on the islands northern tip. You could be forgiven for thinking you had died and gone to heaven with a stay at Qualia. Also newly constructed are the magnificent Hamilton Island yacht club villas that provide holiday home of impeccable standard that will suit even a large family holiday. Two other new attractions are the opera house inspired Hamilton Island yacht club which incorporates "Bommies" restaurant and the magnificent new Golf course which is located a short ferry ride away on Dent Island.

Hayman Island ResortBrampton Island Resort

Hayman Island has a history that goes back to the 1930's when Zane Grey noted author and game fisherman of the time planted the first coconut palms there. It was later bough by Sir Reginald Ansett who was the founder of Ansett airlines and he built the Royal Hayman Hotel which immediately set the standards for Australian island resorts. Today, the old hotel has been replaced by a five star resort and this is also being upgraded continuously. Hayman features five star service, acres of marble flooring, four excellent restaurants and the largest swimming pool in the Whitsundays.
